Brotherly Glove – Paddy Donovan backs Edward Donovan to step out of his shadow

Anyone sleeping with Edward Donovan [4(1)-0] He’s in for a rude awakening, warns older brother Paddy Donovan [9(6)-0].

The Top Rank star believes her early career success and the buzz surrounding her link to Bob Arum and company may have drawn attention away from her talented brother.

‘The Real Deal’ has already fought on TV shows, has former world champion Andy Lee as his number 1 fan and trainer and has recently been able to post videos of himself training world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

It’s the kind of attention the elegant southpaw thinks his talent deserves and the kind of attention he thinks his 22-year-old brother, who was a prominent underage amateur and medal winner at the European Schools, will soon enjoy.

In fact, the eldest of the fighting brothers believes his ‘The Dominator’ may emerge from the tall grass and surprise some people if he fights on Eric Donovan’s EBU EU title fight card live on TG4 tomorrow.

“Edward has been working very hard. He’s probably been in my shadow a little bit,” Donovan tells Irish-boxing.com.

“He is finding it hard to get fights. There have been a lot of camps and a lot of fights canceled at the last minute, but he has been training hard. He is very professional, he doesn’t drink, he does everything right and he is always in the gym. He’s lying in the tall grass right now and we’re ready to let him loose so he can show the Irish public how good he is.

“Edwards is a really good fighter and I think he’s a bit underrated in Ireland at the moment, but soon everyone will see how good he is.”
